Sinks of Light Elements in Stars – Part III

چکیده

See the abstract given in Part I (Deliyannis, Pinsonneault, Charbonnel, hereafter DPC, this volume). In Part III, we first discuss the LiBeB observations in subgiant stars and the constraints they bring on the transport processes occuring on the main sequence. Evidence is then reviewed that suggests that in situ mixing occurs in evolved low mass Population I and Population II stars. Theoretical mechanisms that can create such mixing are discussed, as well as their implications for the evolution of the LiBeB and He.

Sinks of Light Elements in Stars - Part II

See the abstract given in Part I (Deliyannis, Pinsonneault, Char-bonnel, hereafter DPC, in these proceedings). In Part II we discuss the lithium data for metal-poor stars and the constraints it places on stellar depletion. There are a variety of indicators that place interesting bounds on the degree of stellar depletion, and in contrast to the other two sections the data for Population II stars...

The Imprint of the Cosmic Dark Ages on the Near Infrared Background

The redshifted light of the first (Pop III) stars might substantially contribute to the near infrared background (NIRB). By fitting recent data with models including upto-date Pop III stellar spectra, we find that such stars can indeed account for the whole NIRB residual (i.e. after ‘normal’ galaxy contribution subtraction) if the high redshift star formation efficiency is f⋆ = 10% − 50%, depen...

Heavy Element Abundances in AGB stars in 47 Tucanae

This research forms part of an investigation into heavy element abundances in Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars in various stellar environments. Seven giant stars in the southern globular cluster 47 Tuc have been observed using the Anglo-Australian Telescope. Abundances for five sand rprocess elements have been determined: the light s-process elements, Y and Zr; the heavy s-process elements, ...

CNO production in the first generation stars

Big Bang nucleosynthesis produces only light elements and the very first generation stars are thus formed from metal-free clouds. They start the production of heavy elements during their life, and enrich the interstellar medium through their explosive death. Stellar evolution models show that the treatment of rotation has important effects on the evolution of those metal-free stars: for example...

A Comparative Study of the Visual Elements in Five Miniatures of the Prophet’s Ascension

The epistles of the nocturnal ascent are some versified or prosaic narrations deal with the Ascension orspiritual journey of the Prophet and his observations and levels in this Divine way. According to their cultural traditions and religious beliefs, the Iranian Muslim painters as well as the Persian poets and writers have illustrated this story and prepared several painted manuscripts. Some of...
